With the economy in the state that it is in, many local and small businesses are turning to deals and discounts to try to drum up new business. But, rather than trying a gimmick, many successful small businesses have started giving discounts to customers who arrive by bicycle. Since most people who arrive by bicycle are local, giving cyclists a discount shows support for the community. It also reinforces a commitment to the well-being of the local environment.

        

However, offering cyclists a discount isn’t all it takes to get them to ride down to a business; the location also has to accommodate bicycle parking that keeps bikes safe from damage or theft. A business without adequate bicycle parking shouldn’t even bother offering a discount for bikers. The only way to ensure appropriate bicycle parking is to add bicycle racks to the location.
